WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE THIS TREK?
The Nag Tibba trek is one of the most recommended treks by thrill seekers and expert mountaineers like. The peak is located at a height of 3022 meters above sea level and can be reached within a time frame of 3 to 4 hours (from the base camp). This is extremely convenient and impressive because usually to reach such heights and indulge in such views; it requires campers to trek for 3 days or more. The trek starts from the charming village of Pathwari. Located at a nominal distance from Dehradun; this village can be reached by car in a couple of hours. On the way, you can enjoy a plethora of scenic destinations and tourist spots. The beautiful and picturesque town of Mussoorie is the most famous of all of these. A close second is the Kempta falls. Surrounded by high mountains, this spot was possibly named after the words ‘camp’ and ‘tea’ by British officer John Mekinan.
The Nag Tibba range falls in the Garhwal Himalayas and is a prominent climb in the lesser known Himalayan region of Uttrakhand. Nag Tibba literally translates to ‘Serpent Peak’ and this mountain range is believed to be the abode of the God of Snakes. The hiking trail is classified as a gradual ascent and contains its fair share of ridge walks before reaching the top. Sprinkled with viridescent dense oak forest and glossy open grasslands, the entire trail is majestic in itself. Nag Tibba also presents staggering views of Bandarpoonch peak, the Gangotri range, Swargarohini, Srikanth, Black peak, Kedarnath peak and more.
The beginning of this trek usually starts from Dehradun. Located in the Doon Valley of the Himalayan foothills, Dehradun is a tourist favorite. Folklore dictates that the Guru Dronacharya (a famed mentor from the Mahabharata series) was born and brought up in the region. There is plenty to see and experience here. Visitor’s flock to the Robber’s Cave; both due to its natural beauty and because it is the birthplace of the infamous Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves story. The Sahastradhara waterfalls and Lacchiwala are also popular spots for friends and families alike. The city is also refreshing in terms of shopping and cuisine. The Mindrolling Monastery located in Dehradun is one of the biggest Buddhist centers in India. And one absolute MUST DO in Dehradun is to grab a sweet bite at Ellora’s Melting Moments Bakery. You will not regret this! This entire trek will be one of the most special ones in your life.
